Candidate Selection Criteria

Georgia's WIN List has selected its candidates for endorsement in the upcoming election cycle. The following evaluation criteria were used for candidate selection:

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

1. Professional background/resume
2. Public service experience/community involvement
3. Presentation/ public speaking/message
4. Campaign plan/financial resources/volunteer support
5. Personal/family network of support
6. District demographics
7. Commitment

   Professional background/resume

   • Professional reputation
   • Support of current employer
   • Degree/training/academic or professional success

   Public service experience/community involvement

   • Past election/campaign experience
   • Neighborhood/community/school activism
   • Community endorsements
   • Grass roots experience

   Presentation/public speaking/message

   • Ability to articulate issues, interest in public office and campaign reform
   • Physical/intellectual/emotional/maturity and stamina
   • Content of platform in addition to WIN issues
   • Ability to inspire voters, contributors, volunteers and staff
     

Campaign plan/financial resources/volunteer support

• Complete campaign plan that includes adequate staff, volunteers, organization
• Realistic budget that includes personal financial commitment and cash on hand
• Fund-raising experience and strategy
• Proposed or existing campaign vendors, consultants
  

Personal/family network of support

• Knowledge of campaign rigors and commitment of family/friends
• Personal/family financial resources and commitment
  

District demographics

• Understanding of voter history and behavior
• Current or planned polling data
  

Commitment

• Vision/passion/grit
• Feminist perspective and motivation to help other women
• Willingness to participate in ongoing support of WIN and women in office
• Signed WIN endorsement contract
